About This Course
Professional engineering carries unusual public trust because engineering decisions can affect life safety, health, property, infrastructure reliability, environmental conditions, and significant public and private resources. This 1 CEH/PDH course provides a practical framework for recurring ethical issues in engineering practice.
Topics include protection of public health, safety, and welfare; competence and responsible limits; objective and truthful technical communication; duties to clients and employers; conflicts of interest; confidentiality; avoidance of deceptive conduct; professional accountability; and structured decision-making when duties compete.
The course draws principally from the NSPE Code of Ethics and NCEES Model Rules and includes a limited Florida professional-practice context. It concludes with a 10-question multiple-choice final examination. A score of 70% is required to pass, and retakes are permitted until passed.
