Professional engineer continuing-education requirements are set by each licensing jurisdiction. The required hours, renewal dates, subject categories, provider rules, reporting systems, and record-retention periods can differ even when two states use the same terms, such as CE, PDH, or CPC. Start with your license status and renewal cycle

Before selecting education, confirm the status and expiration date shown by your licensing authority. A standard active renewal may follow one path while a first renewal, inactive license, delinquent license, reinstatement, disciplinary order, or multi-state record can follow another. Then identify the total hours and any mandatory subjects that must be completed within the applicable cycle.

Do not assume that a course accepted for one engineering license automatically satisfies another. Compare the course topic, completion date, delivery method, provider or course approval, certificate details, and reporting rules in every jurisdiction where you plan to claim it.
