Florida PE Continuing Education Reporting & Recordkeeping

Completing CE is only part of renewal. You also need to document it, report it correctly, verify the Florida-specific records that providers report, and retain adequate records after renewal.

For the current March 1, 2025 through February 28, 2027 biennium, Florida PEs use NCEES CPC Tracking to report continuing education to FBPE. Florida Laws & Rules providers have a separate reporting responsibility, and Advanced Building Code has another reporting pathway when applicable.

“I took the course” and “Florida can verify the course” are not necessarily the same thing.

Your Florida CE record exists in more than one place

These records do not all live in one system. Do not expect one portal to show everything.

NCEES CPC Tracking is Florida's CE reporting system

Florida PEs must use the free NCEES CPC Tracking system to report continuing education. Ordinary PE CE certificates are not uploaded directly to DBPR as the general reporting method. If you already created a MyNCEES account for an exam or NCEES Record, you may already have the account you need.

Use the correct 2025–2027 reporting period

If a course appears missing from your Florida totals, first check the completion date, selected renewal period, and whether the activity was added to the Florida PE board.

Who reports what?

Florida Laws & Rules is the major reporting exception

Board-approved Florida Laws & Rules providers report course completions directly through Florida's provider-reporting process. Under current provider rules, completion rosters are reported within 30 days after completion, and current-biennium completions must be reported by the renewal deadline.

You should still log into MyFloridaLicense and verify the completion appears. If it is missing, contact the provider. Simply uploading a certificate to NCEES does not correct the provider's Florida reporting record.

Florida already saw three renewal failure modes

The reporting system should be used to prevent all three.

Check every certificate when you receive it

Florida updated CE certificate requirements effective May 26, 2025. Providers must also issue a separate certificate for each course. If required information is missing or wrong, request a corrected certificate immediately rather than waiting until renewal.

What should you upload to NCEES?

FBPE instructs Florida PEs to upload supporting documentation in PDF format. For a conventional course, the certificate is the natural starting point. When the title is ambiguous—particularly for Area-of-Practice classification—also retain useful course materials such as the description, learning objectives, syllabus, agenda, or conference program.

If one certificate documents several conference sessions, enter the individual sessions in CPC Tracking. FBPE's current instructions say the common PDF only needs to be uploaded with the first course rather than repeatedly uploading the same certificate.

Advanced Building Code uses a different path

Advanced Building Code can function both as continuing education and as a qualification record. When the requirement applies, complete the approved ABC course, retain the certificate, provide the required documentation to FBPE, verify that the Special Qualification appears in MyFloridaLicense, and track the CE appropriately in NCEES.

How long should you keep Florida PE CE records?

Florida requires PEs to retain supporting CE documentation for four years from the date the activity is completed.

Do not assume the four-year period starts at the February 2027 renewal date for every course.

Course missing from your Florida CPC totals?

What if you find an error after sending the transcript?

NCEES displays when a Florida transcript has already been transmitted. FBPE's public instructions do not provide a sufficiently clear workflow to promise that simply editing and resending automatically supersedes a prior submission.

Multi-state PE? CPC Tracking can still help.

NCEES CPC Tracking can organize continuing education across multiple licensing boards, but the platform does not make state requirements identical. Florida's board configuration uses its own category requirements and no carryover. Another state may accept or categorize the same activity differently.

Before you send your Florida transcript

Important: not every Florida PE needs the full standard 18 hours in this biennium. Certain qualifying first-time Florida licensees have a reduced first-renewal CE requirement. See the Renewal Requirements guide before relying on the checklist.

A simple CE filing system

You do not need complicated software. Use consistent file names such as 2026-04-18_Protective-Device-Coordination_4CEH.pdf and organize a folder for the 2025–2027 cycle with certificates, course details, ABC documents, and the final CPC transcript. This is not a Florida regulatory requirement; it simply makes four-year recordkeeping easier.

Florida PE Reporting FAQs

Do Florida PEs have to report continuing education?

Yes. Florida currently requires PEs to report CE through NCEES CPC Tracking.

Can I upload CE certificates directly to DBPR?

Not as the general Florida PE CE-reporting method. FBPE directs PEs to NCEES CPC Tracking.

Does my CE provider report my courses for me?

Florida Laws & Rules has a specific provider-reporting requirement. For most other CE, the PE is responsible for entering and documenting the activity through CPC Tracking.

If my provider reports Laws & Rules, should I still keep the certificate?

Yes. Provider reporting and your personal documentation obligations are separate.

How long should I retain CE documentation?

At least four years from the date the CE activity was completed.

Why doesn't all my CE appear in MyFloridaLicense?

NCEES CPC Tracking and Florida's licensing system are separate. Ordinary CE is tracked through CPC; Florida Laws & Rules is separately provider-reported to Florida.

What if my Laws & Rules course is missing from MyFloridaLicense?

Contact the course provider. The provider is responsible for that Florida reporting record.

What documentation do I upload to CPC Tracking?

Upload PDF documentation supporting the CE entry. A certificate is typical; additional course documentation can help when content or classification needs explanation.

Can one conference certificate support several CPC entries?

Yes. Enter the sessions individually; FBPE says a common certificate covering multiple conference sessions need only be uploaded with the first course.

When should I send my CPC transcript to FBPE?

After you have completed and documented all CE required for your renewal. Do not transmit an incomplete transcript.

Does Advanced Building Code automatically appear when my provider reports it?

Do not assume so. When applicable, the PE must provide the required ABC completion documentation to FBPE so the Special Qualification can be updated.

Can I use CPC Tracking for several engineering licenses?

Yes, but each licensing board's requirements still control how education is credited.
