About This Package

For mechanical engineers working with steam and thermal plants

Choose this renewal package when boiler duties, steam delivery, condensate return and heat-exchanger performance are more relevant to your work than an HVAC-only specialty course. It pairs four hours of applied thermal-systems instruction with the common 14-hour Florida PE core.

What the boiler and steam coursework covers

The specialty course connects boiler and feedwater energy boundaries, steam properties and distribution, drainage and condensate recovery, and heat-exchanger duty. Topics include fouling, steam-control stall, service access, installation and acceptance evidence, and integrated thermal-plant diagnosis. Worked calculations and practical cases connect system measurements with engineering decisions.

The broader courses address failure analysis and root-cause investigation, quality assurance and design review, project controls, and lifecycle-cost decisions. Laws & Rules and Engineering Ethics provide one hour each.

Boilers, HVAC or both?

This package includes the four-hour Boilers, Steam Systems & Heat Exchangers course, but not the separate HVAC or pumping courses. Mechanical / HVAC substitutes HVAC design review, controls and commissioning. Mechanical / Thermal Systems combines both HVAC and boilers with a different supporting selection. Mechanical / Pumps & Fluid Systems instead combines HVAC with pumps and fluid flow.

Credits and important exclusions

Includes 18 CEH/PDH: 1 Laws & Rules, 1 Ethics and 16 engineering hours. Select coursework relevant to your practice, including at least four Area-of-Practice hours. This is professional-engineer continuing education, not boiler-operator certification. An Advanced Florida Building Code course is not included; obtain it separately when applicable. Review your prior completions because the 14-hour core and other renewal packages share courses.
